A suzuki jimny? First time in 5 months I have asked it to do a bit of actual work towing a very light trailer up a fairlysteep hhill and being electronic 4x4 it fails at the first hurdle by not letting me have low box. Wtf? What is the point of that? The defender would not even need to try to do the same job without fuss. Grrrrr! Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

It's a motorised shopping trolley, what's the point of trying to let it do things it's not designed for?

We have an organisation who might be forced to consider them for their tunnel system when the defender goes, HiLuxes are all too wide and a 90 only fits with the mirrors folded in!

It's not mine its the farm car I only have it as the fuel is cheaper than the 90. Dad loves it because it is light for going on the land, kinda like a posh road going quad bike but nicer only it's not cos it is a nasty hateful hunk of gutless junk. In all honesty a standard Jimny is as off road capable as a standard Defender, mainly due to its lack of weight and its not like Defenders are the worlds most reliable vehicles !!!!

You're a little over a week late for April fools!!!
"In all honesty" there's someone down in abersoch that has one, it's awful. Tried to launch his speedboat with it, couldn't get it in 4wd for ages, couldn't tow up the hill so had to go round, got stuck on the sand, I had to rescue him. I'm sure they're ok for skipping across a sandy track or muddy field, but when the going gets tough they most certainly don't get going. Horrible things. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Come off it, there's no comparison between a jimny and a defender at all, the basic principles are the same but dynamically the two are world's apart. The jimny is noticeably slower, much more cramped inside, is skittish on road at best, has no ground clearance and no significant articulation off road, has no power to climb obstacles and so has to use momentum which can be quite alarming, the turning circle is naff for something so short and the payload could be carried by a cat. The only redeeming features are it is sort of light but at 1250kg not that light, it is better on fuel just and the heater works really well. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Makes you wonder why you chose to use such a terrible vehicle in the first place .Next time I go into town I'm takin the Defender, then I can complain about how crap they are at getting in and out of car parks . Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

I never really have a problem when I park my 110 either. I squeezed in between a couple of cars in a carpark in Hereford earlier this week and when I came back nobody seemed to want to park by me. I sat for ten minutes just sorting some paperwork and at least 4 cars stopped, looked at the Defender and went off to find another space!

I know my daughter would like a pink Jimny to go snowboarding at the weekends...but none of her male friends would sit in it. She's now looking for a pink Lada Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
