Mystery pipes!
Evening all!

Whilst servicing the defender earlier (td5) I came across three pipes that aren't connected to anything but look as though they should be, situated at the back of the engine at head level, two seem to come across the gearbox and up to the top of the engine, I couldn't quite see where the other came from.

Two pictured below and the third is the same.

They look like the breather pipes to me...they connect onto the parts of the transmission to allow the transmission to breathe without letting ion water when wading... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Transmission and diff breathers Thumbs Up

Quite normal and should not be connected to anything in the engine bay.
