Big yellow taxi
Got through Salisbury onto the A36 dual carriageway when the clouds opened. Doing 70mph past a truck and crunch, ping, donk and the wipers stopped working.
Instant zero viz. Good thing the road was straight.
Arrived home five hours later on a big yellow tilt bed.
Motor still runs with assistance but wipers just jam solid when you move them manually.
I presume it's the drive box.
Does the whole dash and air-con have to come out to fix it?

Yes the whole dash out for the wipers, probably seized up bulkhead boxes fairly common distinct lack of grease. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

You shouldn't have to take the aircon out on a TD5 Confused The whole wiper system is above the mid-rail. You'll need to take the top, centre and ends off though. Darren

That's sounding a bit more encouraging.
Thanks Very Happy

1 hour to dismantle the dash.
10 minutes to replace wiper parts.
1½ hours to reassemble dash.

Grrrrrrr!
