I'd say the autocar article is a couple of days premature. www.td5.org

"Believed to be", "industry watchers" ....the usual all wind and no substance. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

"Within the company, the DC100 is now viewed as “a little too generic”, and the production model’s design is understood to retain the simplicity but be more adventurous."
One of the more promising statements I have heard about the Defender replacement. Too generic is pretty spot on. 'Retaining simplicity' is, OTOH, exactly what a Defender should be about. |

The article reads like any number of iPhone 8 (or whatever we're on now...) bits of lazy journalism where they list potential, rumoured features and present them as confirmed design decisions.
Here we have old bits of news cobbled together as a new story. The tantalising headline generates interest and takes you to a page with adverts on it...which is why they wrote it in the 1st place...there is no new news, so they make stuff up to generate site traffic. They may as well title the article "New Defender Axed". It would be based on as much fact, and would generate more traffic. |

A friend of friend reckons it's to be a stripped down and back to basics Disco 4 lookalike and size with historical Defender bits, but gut feeling it's hearsay, just like Elvis still walking???

Apparently there is a new expression for websites like this - called "Clickbait". I guess the word Clickbait will enter our vocabulary before long. Designed with the sole intention of drawing traffic and generating comments and arguments - and with every comment you add, the writer makes more money from the ads on the page. Interesting article here: http://www.l2sfbc.com/rmp/blog/oh-god-not-more-4WD-clickbait |
