Volumetric Sensor Part Number
I have had my Td5 diagnosed by Land Rover for the alarm fault that started earlier this year (randomly going off for no apparent reason).

The upshot is they believe it is the volumetric sensor and it needs replacing.... For a total cost of almost £280
plus the diagnostic cost.

Personally I think it's a case of pop the old one out and put the new one in.
Whereas they think they need to remove the headlining to do it hence the high cost.

Therefore does anyone have the part number for the volumetric sensor for a:
Defender Td5 90XS (03 Reg)
or know where to source one

On another note LR gave me a free car valet whilst it was in for the diagnostic, it's the cleanest i've ever seen it.
It shines on the inside smells fresh out of the factory. So thumbs up to LR.

Regards

Thank you very much

No, they don't think there is a wiring problem
Just needs a new sensor apparently
Even asked if there was a wiring problem
Obviously the price will include labour which could be £100 easily Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg)

Does problem still happen? Could it be worth just disconnecting for a couple of days to test?

Yup try the disconnect first.

to remove it, you do not need to remove the headlining, unless there's a wiring fault.

i got mine off ebay for 25. Sometimes one from a defender does turn up. Not sure if the disco on will work, cos it's technically the same alarm ecu. anyone has some ideas if this is true? From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.

So the sounders themselves are currently disconnected.
I've just removed the sensor and will connect the sounders up later tonight and fingers crossed all will remain silent.

I don't mind getting a new part and having to pay retail if it fixes the problem Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg)

So the sensor has been disconnected for 24 hours now and there hasn't been any problems.
So I think that the sensor is almost certainly the problem.
Thanks for all the helps chaps
