Timing belt ?
Hi guys

I am hopeing to replace my timing belt not this weekend but next weekend inc a service and a couple of other jobs but although I have replaced a 200tdi timing belt before ( 5-6 ) years ago on my s11a 200tdi I can't remember what size drill bit I used to lock the fuel pump sprocket in place, from memory I think its a M10 drill bit is this right Smile Graham

Might be worth buying the proper kit its not that expensive and makes it much easier.

On a 300 Tdi it's a 9.2 to a 9.5mm drill bit.

Yeah but all I would use out of it would be the locking pin for the fuel pump sprocket but as for locking the fly wheel and crank in place the engine is no different than a series ( old school ) engine aslong as you keep a mental note of where the crank and cam has moved to whilst working on the engine to where they should be when fitting the belt shouldn't have a problem have replaced the timing belt on a 200tdi and a 300tdi in the past but the last was about 5-6 years ago but forgot what size drill I needed to lock the fuel pump sprocket in place with Smile Graham
