run 24 volt item from 12 volt system ...
Hi all,
Ive been offered a 24 volt Eberspacher cab heater for my wagon at a good price, but only have a 12 volt system …
So can I step up my system to give me 24 volts from a 12 volt system?
If so how?
Is it going to be easy or will it be too expensive to be worth it?

Hoping for a warm wagon at night when camping!! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

not easily you can't. fit a 2nd battery and run 24v straight for the heater but you will need a 2nd alt to charge the 2nd battery i would of thought to run a heater.

or two batteries in parallel with a 24v alt, ditch the 12v one then take heater feed from the 24V point and vehicle feed from the battery join ie 12v. Cheers

It is possible to get a 12 v/24v converter. Just google it

You would have to check the current draw on your potential heater.

Am guessing the higher the current draw the more expensive the converter will become

Will it be worth it? Hmm that is your call
