How to get radio out of safe mode.
Latest project involves replacing damaged Radio/CD and installing a Land Rover unit.

Today I have installed a new to me Land Rover Radio/CD unit to the 110.

Being male I failed to read to instructions first and understand them therefore I failed to check that the unit was switched off first and as a result the ten digits attached to my palms went to work on the buttons and the result is that the unit shows SAFE on the screen.

Reading the instructions afterwards I noted that I have to leave the unit switched on and wait an hour, oh well what's an hour I thought, so after ninety minutes I go back and it has switched it's self off. right thinks I another hour, well I'm not doing anything else, so I messed about in the garage for 50 minutes and then climbed in to watch the final minutes tick by and await the instructions to enter the code and NOTHING happened waited for thirty more minutes still nothing still showing SAFE.

I presume that with the word SAFE showing then the unit is powered up and I do not have to have the ignition switched on.

Am I correct or am I missing something?

Any useful suggestions welcome. Don't make old people mad.

Disconnect the battery so it is completely off for a few hours and then try. No Guts, No Glory.

If it still doesn't work after what I've suggested I think you'd have to go to the dealer to get it unlocked or bin it and go aftermarket as above us smother option. No Guts, No Glory.

Well just to update this thread.

After powering the unit down overnight I went out this morning and introduced the unit to my trusty friend Club hammer with the warning that the next time they met Mr Hammer would not be so polite. Laughing

I plugged the unit back in and fitted it, taking care that it was switched off. Inserted ignition key turned one click and switched on Radio waited an hour and I'm one very happy radio installer, so happy that the neighbours have asked me to turn it down. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Oh if a certain gent reads this would he like his CD back that was left inside. Shocked Don't make old people mad.

Mixed tracks, when the unit powered up all I got was money, money, think it was the female that used to be on the Voice.

I thought is was a bill. Laughing

Didn't recognise any others. Don't make old people mad.

It's a really sad world that security has to be set so high that even legitimate owners have to go to such extremes. Sad
