Heads up everyone, this is by far the best tracker that i have seen for the price. I have been trying to find a tracker for my 90 as they are particularly nick-able... however im sure you will agree the majority of them require a payment of £200+ with an annual subscription. however if you follow the link below to Amazon, this tracker is amazing. it hooks up to a PAYG Sim card (i have one on EE for the best coverage) and links through your phone. then if your beloved money pit is broken into, started or driven outside of its Geo-fence, it send a Google maps link to your phone where you can continuously track it. in addition there are numerous features that include the ability to text the tracker box in order to turns the engine off, sound the alarm, lock the doors (if you have central locking) and contact an authorized number or the police that it has been stolen. it also has a panic button, so should anything happen to you while driving it you can press the button and it sends an SOS text message with coordinates to an authorized number. i have tried that in a duff situation, it works, but did result in me having the p*** taken out of my by my dad as he is my authorized number!!!
seriously though, a real asset to have, for £30, you cant lose! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tracker-Vehicle-Th...le+tracker A Defender... Mans best friend, never judges, trustworthy (most of the time), go anywhere, do anything, looks the business, and mans biggest money pit!!! Yes the name for my 90 is Derrick! |

You invariably get what you pay for and this does look too good to be true. What happens if you're abroad and/or can't get a phone signal? I have just gone down a similar avenue and don't begrudge paying a one off lifetime subscription knowing you have third party back up to help retrieve your vehicle and return it to you free of charge and a sound record of recovery. What price do you put on protecting your pride and joy especially when you've possibly spent £1000s in extras? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Very much a fair comment there, however you can get roaming on your SIM card as with normal phones to allow them to work abroad, understandably it is limited to the extent of signal, therefore it's probably the ideal short term solution if you were tempted to go down the sky tag or otherwise... But it has to be admitted that it is rediculously expensive...
It is an ideal peice to have in place with, say, locking wheel nuts, a security grate and tension hinge bolts... A Defender... Maybe not as expensive as it was, for example a Cobra Trak Plus system can be had for £150 plus cheaper than it was a couple of years ago and features all the following:-
■Tow-away alert - triggered when motion is detected with the ignition switched off ■Tamper alert - activated when the system battery is disconneted or discharged or the wiring is cut ■GSM jamming alert - triggered when an attempt is made to jam the GSM signal CobraTrak Plus Key Features: ■Pinpoint GPS tracking (accurate to within 10 metres) ■International GSM coverage ■European coverage (36 European countries plus Russia and South Africa) ■European Police liaison ■Tow-away alert ■Tamper-alert ■No Police hardware required ■Detailed history during the theft to facilitate recovery ■Thatcham 'CAT6' accredited ■Sold Secure approved ■Recognised by major insurers ■Automatic system health check ■Internal battery back-up Question must be how much of that do get for £30? Not much! Far better to spend a bit more and get a lot more, for example Skytag. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! I put a Tesco Mobile SIM card in it, pay as you go, I topped up with £10 and got an additional £20 free credit, it uses the O2 network so coverage seems pretty good 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Hi borederterrier, I have an EE PAYG Sim in mine.
Also it may seem a little odd to only spend £30 on such things, but in return to some messages , the only thing mine can't do is have direct contact with the police and is limited to signal coverage. However for those who do not alway venture abroad in their motor, or for those who are looking for at least some back covering until they can Afford a higher market peice of kit, it's ideal:.. **Edited** Without stating the obvious it is indeed great value for £30 and undoubtedly better than nothing but I definately know the answer to your following question......With the addition of a few more layers at least it's more than a lot of other people have as indicated by Landywatch.
