Changing your cigar socket over to USB - for pre 2012 vehicles the same type of plug is found in the rear for the aux socket see http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic20319.html
First of all you will need a panel mounted USB socket a suitable range of which can be found here http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?ma...60_228_243 The Blue Sea twin unit is used in this particular example found here http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?ma...cts_id=792 Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The white plug is for illumination and is not used Click image to enlarge With the aid of a small flat screwdriver the female spades can be removed from the OE cigar socket, suitably insulated and plugged directly onto the Blue Sea unit Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge We have found the odd dash panel where the hole is tight to get the USB socket in so some gentle sanding will be required on some vehicles Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

In my 2000 TD5 I found it tight in the hole but it happily screwed through so with the locking is a very solid fit.
A great product. www.td5.org |

Are we to understand that this product also fits into the hole in the pre-2002 dashboard which is normally occupied by the cigarette lighter?
