Mine was only three years old when the rot set in at exactly the same spot. At four years old when it had to be done again I as mentioned went to Land Rover Customer Care where a 'mutually agreeable compromise' was reached. I still had to pay but did well out of the compromise! My dealer had also refused at the four year point.
It is a postcode lottery when it comes to warranty work. No real surprise it was turned down as potentially it being a known hotspot the floodgates would have had to be opened, take it further and be diplomatic and polite would be my advice. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I tried to be polite he wasnt going to contact land rover at all i will phone then tomorrow to see the out come, but the dealer and land rover will sing from the same hymn sheet and tell me it should of been checked and documented in the service book so i think theyve got me there. But ok its not been checked last year the rust was still going to come through. I dont think ive the time and effort to take it further it just gets you down. Defender 110

You do not know this for sure mine hadn't had all the ticks either. Do NOT be surprised if you are maybe told that you yourself may have to pay for the work (which does not mean roof off by the way) but get compensated in another way so you are not out of pocket? It will I feel depend though on your approach and how you handle it. Good luck.... As a footnote....Land Rover also have their own method of repair which isn't always the best for non-reoccurence. I supplied my own rust treatment and sealer to get the job done properly....after all I was paying for it. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
