extra battery , charger fitted

still at testing stage , but all seems to be working ok , no drop out now

I find this problem really annoying. Sat parked listening to the news or using phone through Bluetooth on stereo and you want to drive away. Start the engine, stereo goes off, you miss the news article or alienate the person you were conversing with on the phone. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

In the circuit above the capacitor holds enough charge (power) to keep the head unit going during starting and the diode acts like a one way valve preventing the capacitors charge dissipating back into the wiring loom.

I like the idea of this, has anyone tried it successfully?

The downside to this is that the stereo will not go off immediately when the ignition is turned off but I could live with that.
