Hi ken.
The gasket you need is like this one though most can be used twice without problem. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DISCO...0776792535 Re fitting, as you say you need the centre pipe disconnected and cross member removed to remove the old pipe and fit the new one. Some cars if fitted with front anti role bar can benefit from the bar lowered also on its rubber mounts to give a little more space. Regards Pete. |

Thanks Pete, will have a go initially and see if the gasket is useable again initially! if not don't think it will be a major job so will order new ones and leave awaiting final fitting...
All heading towards a remap in near future just a few more jobs to do, brakes and inter cooler are up next and then some tuning! Defender 90 TD5 County - You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40. If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it. |

I've just done mine tonight but like Pete said it real doesn't need changing I only changed mine because I had one with the exhaust 02 td5 pickup

If you do find or feel you need a new gasket you can still put the car back together with the new pipe as even with the cross member back in place as the exhaust can still be lowered enough to slip in a new gasket in if needed. You won't be off the road if you start the job without a new gasket.

Cool thanks Pete and Jim fortunately being off the road doesn't really matter as the 90 is a toy and mechanical learning project rather than every day utility but will see how it all goes together when I get a chance to pull apart over the weekend! Defender 90 TD5 County -

Did I say easy job, the nuts are seized solid at the top end didn't have a lot of time so after an hour or so decided spraying with penetrating oil and leaving at least one night is needed..
They may need to be cut or split the inside one seems quite hard to get at  Defender 90 TD5 County -

They will come undone,, they are tight but once the crack they will be fine to come off. Ive not had to cut one off yet just make sure your socket or spanner is FULLY on the whole nut before pulling it.
