Harley Davidson: 'go, steer, stop' - sorry, they just dont go together! (might be able to tell - not my cup of tea!) Sorry, just made me chuckle. As a side note, if you feel L/R are taking the , you could always go back to Audi, I guess..... Mark 2011 110 XS DC Stornoway Grey |

Harley Davidson rattle the fillings out your teeth, more like!
Have to agree with MM, Land Rover Defenders having been around for so long and been so readily proven as 'fit for purpose' and there being so many after market goodies, Land Rover must draw the line somewhere! In my opinion you get what you pay for be it a base model or XS or even an SVX! I think it brilliant that we are so lucky to have so many options readily available to personalise our vehicles! It would be boring if you could buy them just how you want them and there would be no individuality or esprit de corps as there currently is! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! Last edited by K9F on 20th Feb 2010 7:28pm. Reason for the tyres is cost and sales talk. With the standard 'Ice cream van' tyres I was pushing 32-35mpg where now I have 285/75/16 muds and lucky to get 25-28mpg. If you were running a company and wanted 1000 4WD vehicles what would you go for Defender doing 25mpg or a L200 doing 35 mpg? Bring back the 80s where vehicles were inventive and performance meant big engines with big horsepower not all this performance with economy. Glyn |

Defenders and Harleys, it is exactly the same spirit:
- historical design - high brand loyalty - owners accessorize greatly - they are both noisy, oily and take your teeth fillings out - they both have a lot of low rev torque - for both, it is not the destination, it is the journey - they tend to flock together. Those who critic Harleys are like those who critic Defenders. They have never tried them or they are just too narrow minded. I wonder why Defenders don't attract the Gay community like Harley's do?
