I know this was eluded to above, but Mike@LandRover says "towards the end of 2015"

“hints at a rumour”
For years now, Land Rover magazines have been running “Exclusive - New Defender” headlines on their covers… page 6 shows an artist’s impression of what it “could” be. Sources say, it is rumoured, we are led to believe, it’s been suggested… weasel journalism that means nothing. Unless I get one of the fifty, of course! Peter |

And how many will be for the UK? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

None,...... because there won't be any such V8s. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Well, over on another forum, someone very trusted has just posted that they know the person who has driven the prototype! So it would appear it exists Eric, perhaps just a matter of whether or not LR will go through with it. I just hope they don't price it crazily. If you read around the forums there appear to be quite a few posts on a rumoured V8 - perhaps with automatic box. Now left.

As much as I would like to see an all singing all dancing final edition, I can't see it with any kind of engine or gearbox mods - the type approval and development costs alone for such a limited run would push the price skyward. The last time anything like this was done was in 1998, which 5.0 litre V8 are they going to use exactly, does the Range Rover have such a powerplant? 2011 110 USW

V8 Defender, I'd like it to happen, so would others,...but it won't.

I picked up a new 110 on Saturday from Shukers Ludlow
Dean advised they only have 34 Defender build slots for 2014 and production will cease at end of the year. I have no reason to doubt what he said. If you want an original Defender best get your order in soon. We talked about final edition, V8 rumour etc. but I can't see how JLR could produce such a car if the exscuse to stop production is EU regs. They could however get a specialist to make it for them....... Paul Pondering a New 90 Commercial 2020 Evoque * 2014 110 SW JE Stage 2. *2010 110 Utility. JE Stage 2. *2007 110 SW *2003 90 JE Stage 2. *2000 90 SW If its not leaking it ain't full. |
