Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

thereīs been a comparsion in a recent german magazine.
I remember the "Nolden" give the best light output and a very even illumination of the road in dipped beam, was better than the Speakers (not saying that these were a lemon). HighBeam was similar but the range respectively the length of the beam was not as good. So if there is not a noticeable price difference, and price not the main issue or itīs worth it in oneīs eyes Iīd go for the Nolden. OTOH there was an economical approach by clear lens headlamps + 12V supply in proper wires (could be 4mmē) and Osram NightBreaker (or similar). Think thatīs what Iīll do later on. Donīt have to fear a stone chip or hassle with the insurance company. But this is only because my demand for more light is not very high. |

We run 3 Defenders with different light systems on them.
Red 110 with standard headlights plus Lightforce driving lights and spots Black 110 with Speaker 8700 plus Lazer Lamp LED bars. White 90 fitted only with Nolden 7" LED headlights. These three are our daily drives. Standard LR headlights are yellow candles. Speaker 8700 are a vast improvement on standard LR candles. Nolden headlights are brighter then the Speaker headlights having a measured light output of 1700 lumens compared to the calculated light output of 750-900 lumens for the Speakers. Ingress protection of Speakers is IP67 whereas the Nolden is IP6K9K which is a higher rating and proof against jet washing. Trucklites have a light output of 1300 lumens but I think this is the calculated raw lumen output. Actual light output? I do not know. But would guess similar or less then Speakers. I need to get hold of some and try them out. There are other lights out there as well, some a lot more expensive then the Speakers/Noldens! Lighting upgrades? Many options, but going up in price 1) bulb up grade such as Osram Nighbreaker 2) Crystaal type upgrade 3). Upgrade wiring to headlights so that voltage drop to headlights is reduced I.e. You get 12 volts at headlights rather then 9+ volts 4) Use road legal optional driving lights such as Lazer ST4. These will be great for main beam, but back to standard dim dip beam on candles. 5) LED headlights, most expensive single upgrade and based on my personal experience I would recommend the Noldens.
