Full beam is now like night sun!

Nice bit of kit - well done Devon 4X4.

If D44 want £750, knock off £150 for other places Whistle Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Nice, I've been eyeing them up myself. Expensive, but the lights themselves retail at £280 each so the extra £190 for the bumper, with the lights already fitted and properly finished seems reasonable to me.

What I'm undecided on is;

a. the wisdom of putting expensive light units in a bumper, and

b. Whether for similar money full led headlamps ( Speaker / Nolden etc) wouldn't be a better bet as dipped beam should be improved too.

They do look great though! Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8

The Lazer Lamps are a brilliant bit of kit Thumbs Up

We have two Lazer ST4's fitted to our black 110. These are the non DRL version of the RS4. Yes they are great lights.

Both versions are E marked and road legal if wired through the main beam switch.

If fitting good quality LED optional driving lights then there is a problem when going back to dip beam of standard Land Rover candles as they would appear even worse then normal going from main to dip on standard candles as the difference is so much greater.

a) If the lights are mounted inside the bumper then they are slightly more secure then mounted on top of the bumper. It is much more difficult to angle the lights to get better sideways lighting.

If mounted on top of the bumper yes slightly more exposed to the scumbags, so use different security fittings. Can be angled slightly outwards for a better spread of light

b) Good quality LED headlights do not come cheap and there are various makes available.

Check the following

1) Are they type approved, i.e. E mark? If they are NOT E marked they are ILLEGAL. Some sellers claim they will pass a UK MOT which they may or may not do, however they will still be illegal.

2) Actual light output, most makers will give you a calculated potential light output under perfect conditions, this is a headline figure or raw lumens. Next, but lower figure is the calculated effective lumens. This is the calculated raw lumen figure minus the calculated anticipated losses. Some makers actually give a measured light output which is the real figure to be interested in.

If only one light output figure is given then it will be the headline raw lumen figure, which assumes everything is working perfectly, top quality with absolutely no losses.

3) IP rating. IP67 is the minimum acceptable. The best IP rating is IP6k9K which is a German rating and says that the light unit can be jet washed

4) Looks. That is down to personal taste

5) Budget
