Just a quick thing to check is that your fuel filter isn't blocked/more than a year or 2 without being replaced
They don't seem to get changed with a service, but they should do in my opinion. Mine was blocked and causing engine to be down on power/intermittently stalling Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Forgive my la k of knowledge but I'm guessing it's fuel starvation of sorts so filter, fuel line leak / air into system or perhaps as black wolf has experienced recently the fuel valve (vcv) on the low pressure side of the pump? Somewhere to start perhaps?
Good luck |

UPDATE:
Sorry should have mentioned that a major service was performed two weeks ago - a week after the problem started. The service did not make the problem worse but it did not fix it either. Work carried out: Oil changed Brake fluid changed Coolant changed Oil filter changed Air filter changed New front brake pads The fuel filter was not changed (at least it has not been stated so on my invoice). |

Check out This Thread for the problems blackwolf had. He thought it was contaminated fuel in the beginning (which it was to a degree) but it seems the eventual fault was the valve as Caterham describes. |

Yeah as I said fuel filter seems to be ignored by land rover services, also seems to happen with other manufacturers!
Both my 110, mums RR and dads toyota land cruiser have experienced fuel problems over the last 4/5 years, only for us to find out the fuel filter hadn't been changed for years... I change mine every year or so now Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Dad's old D3 never had the fuel filter changed until we bought it... Apparently it's not something that ever needs to be changed according to LR! An engine to TDi for!

First off was the MIL illuminated when you checked the DTC's? The Nanocom, whilst a good carry diagnostic tool, does not have the ability to differentiate between tested and untested DTC's. P0404: Does the EGR carry out the self clean cycle on engine shut down, 5 x chukka chukkas? If yes unplug the EGR electrical connection and go for a drive. Does this cure the idling issue?? (The MIL will illuminate and there will be 2 tested dtc's logged in the EMS when the EGR is unplugged.). P0100: very common untested DTC, which will clear after 40 ignition cycles as long as the fault does not reoccur. If it keeps reappearing change the MAF sensor in the Airbox, about £35. P0623: check the accessory belt for wear and that the tensioner is still tensioning the belt. If overly worn, replace. P0606: very common DTC which appears every time you plug something into the OBDII socket ie: your Nanocom. Also remove the MAP sensor and clean with a spray carburettor cleaner. Let us know how you got on. HTH. |

I'd be looking at the EGR first, could cause all the symptoms you have.
It is unlikely to be the VCV or a LP/HP fuel problem with those DTCs. |

You must replace both parts |

Agree 100% fuel starvation won't cause your EGR valve to stick. Start with the obvious before 'chasing your tail off on a tangent.' If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

just had mine in the dealers for eight weeks while they tried to sort it.
Change the two high pressure fuel valves at either end of the fuel rail at a cost of £320 and iw will be sorted. Cost me well in excess of £1000 while they tried to sort it out!! 2020 First Ed 110. replaced by 2021 250 110 Commercial Defender_uk |
