Are there RHD Unimogs?
Never seen one. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

You can get the U400 in rhd and many of the electricity companies use them for overhead work.

I've trained on 3 of these in the last 6 months, great vehicles with incredible off road ability. Our vehicles were interesting as they stood 4 or 5 metres high with a 40 foot insulated boom on the back making the centre of gravity very high!!

They also don't have a low box but an 8-speed pre select gearbox instead so you usually pull away in 3rd out on the open road.

I've been a great fan of these since Mercedes introduced the MB Trac in the the 70's.

I,ve just been reading an article (with lots of pics) on MSN hone page on extreme winter cars and it says the unimog can be changed from RHD to LHD in under a minute.

By the way the Defender is picture 35 if you,re going to have a look at the article. 2005 Td5 90 XS

The Rescue one at work is a 2010 one in right hand drive, so yes you can get them and wouldn't have thought it would have been converted for them? There amazing bits of kit Id love to have a go in it off road, but they've only given us a ride in the pinzgauer so far Smile

Funnily enough all the ones used in Germany for highways maintenance seemed to be RHD as it meant the driver was sat kerbside and was better placed to see the jobs he was doing such as cleaning reflector posts or drains or whatever. For the same reason it is possible that many brought to the UK for specced as LHD hence people assume that was the only option?

me@td5.org: I was training Scottish Power staff in Dumfries & Galloway and Stirling. I also took some more courses at Cumbernauld a number of year's ago. These courses don't come around all that often but I really enjoy them when they do. I train under the BORDA banner up here in Central Scotland.

The majority of the square cab mogs are LHD apart from the odd few.
The newer round cabs can typically swap between Left and Right within a few minutes.

Lovely piece of kit, here's my last one making the defender feel a bit insecure Smile
