As Rob said, although took longer than a weekend, we fitted a 3.9 V8 and auto from a Discovery in the SVX look a like to replace the existing 300TDi (I hated the diesel noise in a soft top)

Cost of Disco - £500 (low mileage, most V8's are Rolling Eyes ) - Made a profit selling the rest of the bits on.

I'm guessing that a decent independant would charge around £5k all in ....
