If you have nearly done 12,000 miles you have either:
a, just had it in to the dealer for a service and they haven't tightened something back up or b, it will be going in for its service soon so just book it in for that too . I have a few minor faults on mine (12,000miles too) and it goes in next week for its sevice so I hae mentioned the 2 other slight faults and they are fixing them too. Glyn |

Its a very simple thing to check. I expect its not hooked in at the front properly where it hinges.

if its not that then it will be the brake pads rattling - i had mine if 4 times before they cured the rattle, blob of weld on the back of the pads. the mechanic who did it said alot of defenders have rattly rear brakes, but most owners don't hear them.
i had 4 new sets of pads and a new pair of calipers fitted - still ratteld |

It had its service at 10k for as I was supposed to be going to Italy in it (never actually came about though)... and also because VAT was going up and would have been more expensive - thats the yorkshire in me talkin there ...
I'm pretty sure thats what it is. Its the only thing I can find thats loose underneath. I'll have a proper rummage about tomorrow and see for sure. |
