Defender 90 - Stupid Question
I have had my Defender 90 TD5 (2004) for about four months and loving it.

Joined an off road club, Mad on Mud, it's amazing what it can do ! Just need to learn how to use it better !

Stupid Question 1.

The washer jet outer casing has fallen off ! Where do i get a new one ? It just clipped on but fell off on the motorway ! The ones on line seem to be the whole thing but different !

Help ?

as far as I know you can only buy the whole thing , and there a pig to fit

but I have always managed to put the pipe bit in a vice and pull the outer bit off and push it on to the stub sticking out of your bulkhead

could use small amount of glue to stick it more permanent

I recently lost mine and bought this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Landrover-Defend...33636aa9e0

Clamp the threaded end in a vice, then knocked the end off with a mallet and block of wood. Then needs a really good shove to fit over the existing pipe bit.

The fitting is not too bad... takes a little bit of time and you need to dismantle the dash, but it is easy enough. (and when you have it opened up there is a multitude of other things that you can do too)

When you are at it 'upgrade' and fit a second washer, then you will have 4 jets and a screen that gets cleaned much better. You will see there are 3 holes on the bulkead, your existing washer is in the middle one, use the other 2 for your new washers and plug the middle one with a gromit. All you need is a t-piece and small length of washer tubing which you can get from a motor factor .... or Hellfrauds!

Well worth doing!

Cheers Mean Green.

Gona do a quick fix at the moment and come back to do a better job later.

Funny thing is I have to jets at the moment, one on top of the other ? Only the bottom ones works though. I must have a weird Landy Laughing

Cheers

I see you're a Fifer so go to Mike Aitken 4x4 in Ladybank. You'll not get better! 01337 831114

Come to think of it, it would be an ideal time to convert the washers from single to twin head which is a whole lot better, especially if you go playing at Glentarkie!

Mean Green.

Took the top of the dash off and got to it. You do need small hand (which I don't have) nut managed eventually ! All done and dash back together !

Cheers for the advice.

No problem .. that's what these forums are for Smile

Did you go for the upgrade with the extra double jet? It makes a big difference.

It was a long time ago that I changed mine, but I seem to remember that you get better access by taking the stereo fascia and switch panel off, you can then gain access to the nut (I think! Smile )
