you only take the cover off the locker that's what the plastic sleeve tool is for , all the rest are part of the nut ,you don't remove them to undo the nuts ,27mm socket straight on to shiny cover looking bit

The locking nut is the one marked with the dimple. If you put the plastic sleeve over any of the others and try to pull… the lugs will simply snap off.
Don’t beat yourself up - I found out the hard way, too! Peter |

No way! You didn't!!!!
I had an Ebay link somewhere for replacement wheel nuts but I'm sure they will be easy to find with a quick search. I keep losing the locking nut cover (or somebody keeps losing theirs and then taking mine) so I bought a bunch of replacement ones for a few quid. |

Yep feel a bit of a plonker...
Anyway, fire extinguisher now fitted, in front of the forward facing rear seat under the window trim. Neat and out of the way but quickly accessible, even when loaded... Amazingly, one of the nuts on that wheel was barely finger tight! So I ended up going round all wheels and checking the torque settings all good bar one other nut. Local dealer has one in stock so will collect am before a trip away for Easter. Thanks again for the prompt replies and not making feel even more stupid! Just shows what you forget despite 3 previous Defenders |
