I have had similar issues too although the opposite funny enough.
I've never taken the time to work out what it is but power is there for certain, I think generally the idea was that the switch can be funny. With mine an LED bulb fixture works but incandescent doesn't. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Try reversing the polarity.

As above swap the wires. I might be way off but I'm sure I heard that filament bulbs can take live and earth into either side but led can only be one way.

Assuming your new LED fog light works when fitted, take the new fog light off and fit the LED reverse light there instead, does the reverse lamp now work (when you switch the rear fog on)?
If yes, you have a wiring issue to the reverse light connector (possibly pins the wrong way around on the connector). If no, then the lamp is faulty, but if Mud have tested it then that shouldn't be the case. Was the lamp supplied with the connector already fitted to the lamp's wires? 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Instead of the fog you can also test it in the indicator position if that's easier for you to switch on 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, great idea. Have tested the lamp in the fog position and it works fine so assume it is indeed the polarity. Came with connectors already fitted but I think the old foglight is a replacement following a dink (evidence of re-spray) so maybe wires were mixed up then.
I will try swapping the wires in the connector now. Cheers James |

Hi James,
Yes I would switch the wires in the connector on the Defender, so it is back to "correct" and will work with any lamps present or future without the head scratching 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

It works! Thanks so much for the advice.
Now I just have to set up the loading modules on the indicators...... |
