I've used Black circle and Camskills before now (not for a Landy tho),Black circle use independents to fit them for you.

That Black Circles business and their independent Garage partner network really irritates me. Let's say you just wander into a tyre fitting business in a place like Thurso and ask for a price for 4 new tyres - they quote you a price. Then you go onto Blackcircles get a price for the same 4 tyres - you ask for fitting in Thurso (or within so many miles) and guess who can suddenly fit those tyres at a different price?

Just try it and see!

Black Circles can only operate that business model with the co-operation of the local independants, of course. I'd be more inclined to be irritated at the blatant attempt at overcharging by the independant when they thought they had no competition. Darren

I've never found Black Circles to be that competitive - in fact I use them as an initial price check service and they have never yet been that cheap. Personally I usually go down to an independent, ask if they can compete with an internet price and I've cash in my pocket. After a bit of banter I usually get a deal that suits us both - and 30 mins later I'm off up the road - job done.

Another feature of buying tyres is the tyre fitter's discount structure with their own suppliers. For example I go down and ask for say 4 Continentals, the tyre man says "No problem I have the Contis in stock at a competitive price - however this month I can offer you Michelin or Cooper (or whatever) at an even better price as there is a special discount promotion running". So invariably I return home with another premium brand of tyres on the vehicle.
