Insurance discounts for more licenses you hold
Been looking at renewals for insurance and started to wonder why they dont give a better rate for drivers who hold more categories!?

Just having passed my test for class 2 (cat c) and doing my class 1 (cat c+e) in january, thought i might have seen better deals. Was only browsing though.

It'll probably cost you more because your likely to be on the road more of the time. Big Cry

Some of our drivers at work (Class 1) find it dearer to get insurance the more categorise you have! Especially the younger ones! An engine to TDi for!

think if you got bike categorie you should get a discount . riding a bike makes you more aware and look further ahead , look at the driver not the car pulling out ( to see if they have seen you) ,slows you down driving a car .. not saying that someone without a bike can't do it ,, but when riding you are more vulnerable so makes you more aware ... I know it slowed me down ...sorry to say defender speed and cornering is never going to impress me after a bike
but still love driving my defender

I don't know about discounts, but every new driver should be made to drive both a big truck and a bike before they get a car licence to give them some idea of what other road users need.

Got my bike licence, so well practiced in forward planning.

It was just a thought as the more catergories you hold the more competent the driver and knowledge you'd get from being on the road. Insurance companies should not really worry as you would be insured possibly for a lorry on a seperate policy? Unless you are a delivery courier using your personal vehicle as your business too?
