Pic or diagram of stock battery and connections?
Cleaning up old sins from my previous owner I pulled out the national Luna dual battery monitor and system and am wanting to go back to stock set up. However so many wires I’m unsure what does what.

I’ve found two wires with LR Labels on them- assume those are the two OEM LR pos and neg? Or were there more? It’s a rats next of cables.

I’ve been trying a bunch of combos with a new battery fully charged and no matter what I do, there is zero power getting to the vehicle. No lights no remote working no nothing.

Thank you!

Might be worth checking that the cable that runs from +ve battery under the vehicle & up into the other seat box to the fuse box is actually connected to the fuse box. This might have been disconnected & replaced with a cable running through the cab.

That’s helpful. Just to be clear though, in the stock set up there is only one pos and one neg leads coming to the battery box? My negative with the factory LR sticker is a brown wire in plastic loom and the positive a red wire with LR sticker that was going to the mega fuse with the battery terminal ring on it.

I know I’m asking some very basic things I’m
Trying to just eliminate anything from the battery box that isn’t factory so I can start from scratch but more importantly drive my truck!

These pics should help https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic1331.html

At the very least you should have a positive from the megafuse to the starter, and another positive from the top of the mega fuse to the fuse box’s

If you look at the link I provided for the manuals on the 2012 year on section, top row 3rd file from left it’s the wiring diagrams. Page 31. Labelled 414-01 - BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES. Shows the layout.

Looking at the wiring diagrams the negative is black and goes from negative battery terminal to the chassis ground then onto the gearbox ground.
The red is a positive , fused by the 500amp megafuse, and goes to the starter and then the generator ( assume they mean alternator).
The brown is a positive, connects to the top of the megafuse , therefore not fused by the megafuse, and goes to the main fuse box under the other seat.

Without battery connected trace cables and confirm with a meter by testing for continuity. Do not connect battery until your are certain you have identified and validated where each cable goes and are fully satisfied you have it correct.

I’m grateful for all of you and your help. What a mess of wires. Cleaned all the junk out.

Even with the wire diagrams I assumed that positive cables would be RED in color. I had one read, but three blacks. After looking at the pics of link Ianh provided of that aux battery build I realized that in fact the positive that is brown wire in black factory loom is actually a positive. So with that attached to the top of the mega fuse, POWER!

Hugely thankful for the community and the always helpful folks here.

Cheers

Great news it’s all wired up ok now, and good to hear in your other topic you have been able to clear the dpf issue and your truck is running fine.
