thanks BW....
sounds like I'm going to need that 'cheap' run about. would be nice to find this is the problem and not the clutch but the moment I'm expecting it's going to be both. - what's really peeing me off is that I'm thinking whatever the problem is it's basically been there since the very early but now I'm gonna have to pick up the bill |

Grizz. What did you replace them with?
I understand the rear flanges are more prone to wear - but at 3000 miles ! ? |

Caterham if you have the build sheet, or can get it from the dealer/LR it will state what diff is fitted. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Thanks very much but from the information BW provided I'm sure it's a 2 pin version.
Had enough of this and going to look into sorting new clutch, diffs and front axle complete.... |

If you want to pm your VIN to me I can check the build sheet. Won't be until Monday though.

BW - many thanks for your kind offer. I'll pop out and confirm VIN for you shortly, from memory however I think it's;
0SCRAP/5PARE5/B1N/KNACK3R3D. Anyone got a clue as to rough costs for a complete new front axle, a decent one be it land rover or otherwise. I don't needed anything heavy duty as it's not for off roading. just want it to be reliable / smooth. would like to think I could bolt something on and not expect any probs for 100k miles? part reason for this is I have the 2 pin diff, problems elsewhere and the axle case might have the end drop off according to the recall notice I have |

Trouble will be finding a late low milage axle that you know the history of , not from hard front damaged defender and also one not in the recall and one with 4 pin diff
but if you find one guessing 600-800 quid for complete low mileage axle have you had any sit in when you drive to see what they say ! |
