What are the advantages over the current CB radios..?
Do both parties need to use these (otherwise it would be like one handed clapping)...? cheers simon |

Both (or more) sides need to have SSB radios, but the potential for really long distance communications is the draw to buying one.... Even 10 watts can get you chatting to the USA....

Blimey, not sure I'd want my inane ramblings and expletives broadcast much further than the immediate group while out on the lanes..
If the distances are that great, wont there be a lot of cross channel interference etc, or does SSB give an infinite number of channels to use..? cheers simon |

You have to be lucky to get the real long distance comms, but it's regular to chat over 100 or so miles....
The channel frequency is very tweakable, and bandwidth is small.. Long distance is all part of the fun and attraction of the mode.. ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. "(o)====(o)" ^^_-^-_^-^_^^^^^--^^^^ PAUL G7ALW 14.200 USB 26FB458 / 27.275 SSB |
