Fuel gauge issues
Recently I posted on here that on my recent rebuild 300 tdi 90 the fuel gauge reads constantly full..... Ive checked for voltage at the sender, the earth is connected and shows continuity on a multi meter, Ive confirmed the sender wiring, however the gauge still reads full all the time, except the other day when I fired it up and the gauge read half full (true reading) Ive since filled up to full and am waiting for the fuel and gauge to drop. Im useless at understanding Lucas smoke, so what would cause the gauge to read full all the time, something intermittent I guess?

Regards

Paul

Float Might be stuck or broken. Especially if it randomly remains in the same place all the time... 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

Thats a good point cos the float points towards the fuel pickup, further investigation methinks!
Cheers!

I have a spare sender so connected that and the gauge only works between full and 3/4 when I operate the float manually out of the tank, as this is a total rebuild, Im now wondering if the issue could be at the gauge end of the equation, dont suppose anyone knows what goes where on the back of the fuel gauge? 1993 ex 2.5 petrol 90 now 300tdi.....

Cheers!
