You need to buy some radio keys, either from halfords or a car audio shop.

I recently fitted spotlights to my Defender, with the wiring fit I too needed the radio out to facilitate the switch fitting and wiring. I just popped along to my local dealers and asked if they would release it for me which they did! In fact they were only too happy to oblige! Even with the correct tools it was still a pig to release it! When finished it just slid and locked back in place.Wecome to the site by the way.

Hi,
You will need a pair of 'U' shaped wire tool (similar in thickness to clothes hanger) which has a pointed and grooved tip and insert one on each side (it needs to be inserted with some effort, but no force) once the tool is located move the tool side to side with some tension - it will slowly pull out! (remember to pull on the tool side to side). There is room at the back to access the wires, etc. But the radio is a tight fit and the wires are not very long. Replacement - insert the radio all the way till you hear a 'click'. The tool you can get from any motor factor (Don't know whether Halfords will have it?) but motor factor will.
