CB radio
Just fitted my new CB. Worried that ive done something wrong. No signal on any channel....is this normal cos no one is transmitting. Do i only get a signal if i can hear someone??!!

Have you checked the SWR reading? Ensure you've got a good earth on the ariel then check the SWR, adjusting the ariel to get the lowest possible reading. There is a guide from Jim at www.4x4cb.com 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it.

The road less travelled.... is a muddy one!

It is quite usual for the signal meter not to register anything unless someone else is transmitting close enough to be heard - in such a circumstance there is no signal, it is not like a mobile phone. With the squelch turned down you should hear 'white' noise, turn it up till there is no sound and then, when someone transmits, you will hear their transmission.
