Simon,
I had a D3 before my current Defender and I did stuggle with damaging it. On the wayfarer and happy vally for example I got 2 punctures and ripped all 4 mud guards off. I got rid because I ended up flapping all the time when off roading, it was just a little too wide for me. I do enjoy the Defender, but do have moments where I end up costing D4's, but then common sense or rather my wife butts in and tells me to get a grip. There are plenty of ex D3ers on here who have used them for all sorts - AndrewS, discocuzzy,Ent and willyekerslike for example. Hope this helps. Ian |

You will be better off taking it all off. Anything above mild off roading will wreck it. A standard D3 struggles to get through most lanes without getting scratched. When I do the navigation challenge we have to cut back 90% of the greenery to get the 'fat boys' through.

Or get both
I don't offroad my current D3 for shiggles for all the reasons Higgers mentions - happy to bounce the 90 all over the place though. 54 Freelander modded for mud 2008 D3 SE 2010 90 XS SW 1978 88 Series 3 undergoing surgery with a new owner 2007 90 County Truck Cab - gone 2006 D3 SE - gone 2004 Freelander Sport - gay 1999 Disco V8 ES rotted to bits |

Mantec wont fit with the styling pack
You could cut the bumper for the Winch but the Approach & Departure angles are trashed |

I think if I do go for it ill change the front bumper back to a standard one and leave the back end as it is .
I just dont get that excitment to drive it as i do with my defender just love the idea of using all the terrain controlls at the moment |

I use my D3 for the road miles and light greenlaning, for real off-raoding I bought the 90. The D3 is very good off-road but yes I am a little afraid off damaging it. Roel
