I'd say more £150 - £250
There are members on here more than capable of doing this for you, perhaps local if your lucky. It's not a massively complicated nor difficult to do. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

Thanks for the reply, thought it was a touch spenny!
Anyone near Haslemere? I'm happy to travel with beer tokens and beer! Been hunting around on the internet and found Rangers 4x4, any other recommended Defender specialists in Hants/West Sussex/Surrey? |

Sorry I can't advise any further, hopefully more local members can guide you to a reputable dealer / Indy.
I think I'm a bit far to help you really which is a shame. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

It really depends on what is include in the quote of £300.
£300 including VAT = £250 ex VAT Land Rover switch for optional light is about £40 Waterproof connectors say £5 Fuse box, relay, wire, conduit etc Say up to 2 hours labour at main dealer could be £100/hr Yes someone could throw them on your vehicle for beer money and £10 in parts. So £300 is not excessive, depending on what is included in that price and by what type of garage/quality of the job. Less then £100, including parts it is either done as mates rates or I would be concerned about quality of workmanship and parts. So £300 could be a reasonable price, for a good quality job and parts by a main dealer or it could be a rip off price, with substandard parts and workmanship by a back street bodger! Brendan |

Depends on the complexity of the installation too, workmanship quality on electrical items can be iffy. Personally I'd only trust main dealer. (Despite associated cost) or an auto sparky, never ever halfords or similar. I am no expert but simply learnt as I went which is really interesting and with the likes of Mal (K9F and Brian (lorryman) you can really go wrong if you get stuck with a slightly more complicated problem.
The jist is a mechanic and auto electrician are two completely different things. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

Baldinho - who is supplying the A Bar?
As others state, it's a fairly straightforward job. I did mine myself using a Land Rover kit and instructions as a base/guide. It did take me a wee while, because I was slow & methodical. Once you have got your head around it tho it's straightforward. TOPIX instructions here http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/70573 And "The Boy" did a similar write-up here for roof lights (same principle): http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic11570.html I used this A Bar from Flatdog: Click image to enlarge Can't advise on a local fitter, but 2-3 hours work plus parts (as Leeds says above) doesn't seem OTT. Thanks all for your insight, food for thought and as you say £300 may not be too much in the whole scheme of things as that quote came from a LR dealer. Sounded a lot to me (with really no wiring knowledge at all!!) Can put my hand to most things but anything with wires and I run a mile for some reason.
Will call Keith Gott and see how much it'll be. |
