HAPPY VALLEY AND THE BEARDED LAKE NEAR THE DOVEY IN WALES
This is a short video that is the last in a series of 3 from a recent laning weekend. We had been camping in the Devils Bridge area of Wales and on the return leg, we took in the Happy Valley Lane and the Bearded Lake.

Another first for me and yet again a great experience because of the diversity of the terrain and the fantastic views as we traversed the contours of the valley summit running along the Dovey Estuary.

By this stage in the trip quite a few had dropped by the wayside and it was just 1 Pinzgauer, a 90 and my 110 left to finish the weekend.

Would you believe after the smash on day 1 mine was still going strong but then snapped an almost brand new shock. I’ve got shock droppers on +2 OME shocks and I’m sure they are over compressing.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this.

ellebarto. TOP TOP video. Thank You.
In Aus, the majority of our off roading is much different to that....mostly in the bush, sand, wide open spaces etc.
I've seen your "Green Lanes". How are these formed?....lots of rocks, ruts, I see old stone walls, old buildings etc etc...so what would these roads have originally been used for, what is their history?
Anyway, LOVED your video, Pickles.

Mainly pack horse or cattle droving routes

But Rights of Way that have vehicular access. Think Horse & cart rather than car though.

Tiger, I read that link. My Mum was Welsh, she came from Rhymney, we lived in a little village called Vowchurch for several years, just outside Hereford. (We've had a few Corgis!)
Cheers, Pickles.

Also many were originally old Roman Roads. In fact aren't most modern vehicle wheel bases based on the length of a Roman chariot? Sure I read that somewhere! Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos.

I have done Happy Valley twice in my old Series Two but wouldn't fancy taking my Defender up there! Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I've done Happy Valley a number of times now but it allways seems to be the last one of the day, not exactly rushed but often not fully appreciated.

Is Happy Valley the one that brings you out over looking the estuary at Barmouth?
You go in off the main road, past a white bungalow with the long garden by the road and then through a field on a tarmac road? 1999 Defender TD5 110
