NW Australia
Just returned from a 4,000 km trip through Australia's North West. Despite some serious punishment the Defender didn't skip a beat (and unstoppable up sand dunes)...

Except for the Defender's colour and lack of a trailer some of the pictures look like our trip last year.

Some great places up there!

What brand of rack is that? It looks like 3 Rola rails and a base??? 110 2.4TDCi
110 300Tdi

Thanks guys, it was a brilliant trip, dying to get back up there as it is a beautiful part of the world.

The roof rack is Rola (open ended commercial luggage tray). I own a wave-ski/kayak and this was the best way to load/transport it plus have the option for luggage and a second spare.

Rick, whats the fitting you have on the rear wheel carrier? I'm looking for something like that to mount my roof tent ladder for when it gets too dirty to put inside

I am so jealous. My mate emigrated to Cairns last year and lasted 3 months before returning to his mundane job here in Scotland (to hot for him). He was only over there a month before I had planned a 3 month break in oz to do exactly what you did. Oh well might win the lottery yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Cry

Thanks, it was an amazing trip and heading back to Coral Bay and Exmouth in April (less windy, great snorkelling).

One interesting observation about that trip is how few Defenders I actually spotted (only 2 over 3 weeks). While I always knew the north west was covered in white Land Cruisers, I did expect to see a few more LRs. Mineoften caught the attention of locals! So Outside of the UK I'm wondering who else is buying them in significant numbers (for civilian purposes). Don't get me wrong, I love being the odd one out, I just hope the Defender really does survive, only because I'd like to buy another one in a few years time.

BigMike - Thats a Thule Bike Carrier.

Defender75 - Running 265/75 Cooper STTs, love them.
