Why they're the greatest 4x4.. You can be a farmer, family man, explorer or royalty and still drive a defender Cheers, David

Although not always a fan of Top Gear's opinion of things, I thought Richard Hammond's quote in the review he did on the Land Rover was good....

" it is completely classless - in a Land Rover you might own the land or work the land......"

Presume everyone has seen the review....

Lovely video .
A few yrs ago whilst i lived in E Sussex , i came across a very special looking 110 csw in a rural farming area .
It had 12 seats , grey elephant hide . Padded door panels , Safari roof ,bronze green , Buick V8 and a host of other specials.
I knew it was something different and the old dear wanted to sell it , I had the cash to buy it but the old man said NO way .
It had been the queens . She commissioned it to that exact spec and used it daily . It was an amazing early 70s and i wish i had it .

He'd need one to fit his over sized head into it. Whistle Rolling with laughter
5th gear did quite a good review, I think it was a Twisted Defender or Alive vehicle can't quite remember which now. No Guts, No Glory.

You don't mean this one, by any chance? A 1965 2A fitted with a 6 cyl engine two years before it went into production along with six speaker radio, exterior and interior rear wipers, overdrive, brake servo and many other minor features.

Hmm, interesting. The first Stage 1 prototypes were built around '75/'76 so perhaps it was something that came off the back of those. Darren

I seriously doubt that any companies pay TG anything...

They're obviously just fairly big fans, and I think that they appreciate the important of being complimentary of British manufacturers Cheers, David

They probably don't pay Top Gear, but I'm sure they keep the presenters happy.

Of course, I still stand by my thoughts that JLR and the BBC are best of friends....... Lots of product placement. Craig Rogers
