I'm just wondering, in a thick kind of way, how do MAF sensors get so fouled up? They're just on the clean side of the air box and there's a sharp bend before the turbo. I've just swopped mine with one I took off 4 years ago declared "dead" when I took it to be remapped, gave it a quick squirt with electric contact cleaner and it's back to running well. Just done the pick up from school and recently I've been down on power, this time 5th gear all the way, down to 30mph on the hills and still pulling, not a chance before. So what is it that fouls them up?

Makes you think though, I generally use Bearmach's finest filters(deal on at the time and bought a job lot) and can see a drop off in performance after about a month though saying that it might go a bit further this time as I've cured the leaks on the FPR and rear of the rocker cover so if there is any dirty air being drawn in around the airbox and its wonderfull fit it should be cleaner now

It's one of the reasons I don't believe in those ram effect so called air intakes, they will be chronic for polluted air coming in. As standard the majority of dust and the like will go by but air won't. Snorkels are a different principle because they are high up well away from and contaminated air. With obvious reason of course. Running EGR fills them with soot and an oily gunk.
