Not sure if you noticed but I am running a private off-road day on the 21st at the off road site I work for (www.parkwood4x4.co.uk) You could do the peaks on Saturday then come over here on the Sunday (only an hour further)

There are 25 signed up so far from Disco3, RRSport & Freel2 but no-one from here Big Cry

Would be nice to see some of you if you can make it as the site is fantastic.

Thanks Andy, looks great, would it cater for all on the sign up? You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

Yes not a problem, the site is huge and can cope with 100+ vehicles on a big event Thumbs Up

If anyone is up for it I need them to signup, you could alter the original post and add it as the 2nd option maybe? Andy

Will do Andy,..chaps that have signed up....what do you recon?

Andy is there any offroad driver training offered at Tong....maybe that would be something different as an option?
Quite a few new chaps on here may have never ventured off road in their vehicles and this would be the ideal way of building confidence? You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

Yes there is, not sure if we can do this though due to the numbers attending, instruction is usually done on days when only 2 or 3 cars are in. I could arrange for some tuition in a small group maybe but 1-2-1 is not likely. Andy

Sounds awesome Smile halfway home for me too Very Happy I do normally break something on pay and play though.

On the instructional side of things- I would be happy to show anyone round and give tips etc.

Likewise, I am more than happy to take a group of 'newbies' round for an hour or so going through some of the basics.

Parkwood is not like most pay-n-play venues where it is a free for all with a risk of damage etc, this site is fully marked out with graded routes for people to follow, caters for complete beginners right up to competition standard Very Happy

I will need numbers confirming ASAP please Andy

CFB,

No for me mate, a little to far north.

We can cater for both on the Sunday, dependant on what people want to do

I'll confirm tomorrow after I've had a look at the maps and rang around a few campsites.

I'm thinking a meeting place in either Buxton or Leek and then going fom there.

More details to follow.

Chaps,

The meeting point will be The Winking Man public house which is on the A53 Leek to Buxton road. Postcode for Satnavs is ST13 8UH and for map readers the Grid is SK026637. We'll meet for 1000hrs on Sat 20 Feb so that should give plenty of time for a lazy breakfast or travel time.

For the Sat we shall do lanes around Buxton, Bakewell and Chapel. Including Roych Clough, have a look on YouTube for a gander.

Obviously a pub lunch for the Sat Whistle

We will then base ourselves around Buxton on Sat evening, mainly due to the variety of B&Bs, Pubs and Campsites.

On Sunday, for those who aren't going to Tong, we shall look at Stanage Edge and the Houndkirk Pass before cutting away just after lunch. This leaves us close to the Motorways for those who need to go N or S.

Accommodation is up to you and your budget, however I'm going to camp on the Sat night. I just need to find a campsite suitable and open in Feb!! I've got a few in mind but will post details later.

For those who want to travel up on Fri and stay overnight, again plenty of campsites around the local vicinity or the meeting point. A tip though...The Winking Man pub is only the meeting point because of the large car park and ease of finding it....its a bit of a dive where all the yocals beat their wives up and all that...I wouldn't go there in the hours of darkness!!! Laughing There are plenty of nice places around Leek, Macclesfield and Buxton, all a max of 20mins away. Any questions don't hesitate to ask. (I'm from this area originally) I'll be travelling up late Fri evening, due to work commitments and will probably camp.

This will be the usual no pressure doddle through some nice lanes, with stops a plenty. We'll have a chat about routes etc when we meet to make sure everyone is happy.

Campsite details to follow!!

Any dramas let me know.

Ian Thumbs Up
