Centre front seat instead of cubby box possible?
Can an older Defender's front centre seat be fitted where the Puma's cubby box is easily. I would like one in matching trim to my XS 1/2 leather, 1/2 fabric, if such are made.

Idea of the seat is to make a level bed with driver's & passenger's seats, for me to curl up & snooze on. The cubby box is too high. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I believe I've read on here before that the transfer lever sits too far back (or something like that), thus making fitting a centre seat impractical. An engine to TDi for!

Sadly not legal now due to seat belt and type approval issues.

Opportunity there for our resident cubby box experts to come up with the likes of an under cubby box but with a padded lid to bring it up to the hieght of the seat pads. I don't work on a commission basis usually Whistle

I wouldn't bargain on it, probably be picked up MOT time.
As mentioned not really practical doe to the size of transmission tunnel and what not. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Custom cubby box with well-padded lid might help. Perhaps it could reach backwards more to give more storage space, compensating for reduction in height. Though after fitting Mud rails the height difference between seat top & box top will be a bit less. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. No. Like most things on cars, if it's fitted it must be legal even if not in use.

Thought you might like to know that just having taken mine out, I noticed that the cubby box sits on two crude pieces of wood that are cut so that the cubby box sits level. So you would need to copy this "design" innovation to make your bed level.
