I don't have heated seats but am aware that kits available for around £90 per seat. It is a DIY fit and should cost no where near £1300

On my 2002 TD5, the drivers seat was not working. I checked for power at the plug under the base, and it had 12v so I knew it was the seat.
In the end, I traced it to the thermostat in the seat back. If you remove the seat cover from the seat back, (not too difficult) you will see a silver button thing. I just soldered a wire in its place to complete the circuit, and it all started to work. Ok, it gets a bit hotter than it should, and when its too hot, I switch it off. You could always get a Waeco heated seat kit and just replace the pads in the seats. The kit comes with all wiring and switches but you wouldn't need to use them. If you want to use the same type of connectors that are on your existing pads you will either have to find new ones or alternatively cut the old ones off and join them to the wiring on the new pads.

Having just bought a Waeco kit from MPS via eBay ( terrific service from them) I can tell you the waeco kit has two heat settings, which you won't be able to take advantage of with OEM switches, but no reason you can't wire your switches to the high setting alone.
You need to fit the pads into the seats which is easy. There are Youtube videos of how to do it. I found out after. Took about an hour to do two front seats, including taking them out and putting them back, which may not even have been necessary. Kit from MPS was £50 delivered I think so even if you got the Queen's auto electrician to fit them, you'd stilll be ahead of the game. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

Wow for £1300 you could have a brand new set of Exmoor Trim premium seats with heaters. In fact you can get a set of new half leather XS heard seats for half that on eBay. Plus you could probably get a couple of hundred for you old seats if you sold them on too...

I would recommend the Waeco elements from Simon at MPS, installed mine two years ago, work a treat and you get a very toastie back side, £50 two seats very good value

I visited the co yesterday. The guys replaced my heated elements in both seats for £204 incl vat some £1100 less than the LR dealers wanted. Great service from this co who know our trucks inside out. Highly recommend them. Many thanks. |
