First off, this discussion wasnt really about Locking Diff's Whistle which is a totally different set of concerns and considerations...by no means are they a perfect solution Thumbs Up

Willy I would agree with you.

You cant deny that in ALL of the current range, the use of TC and ABS makes them VERY effective - when you jump then into the terrain response models, again the balance is outstanding; add that to those that have the optional rear locking diff (note only one) and they are amazing.

Biased i would say the defender is better and i also think LR should include a rear locking diff option in the current line (i would have had it). But TC off road is very useful and helps...being the best balance.

ABS as an on road safety feature alone is worth it - it also has advantages off road.

As for snow and ice - i have driven many times in them; although not a major consideration in a topic until this year/week - and i have seen the benefit. When i did my advanced driving, i remember we learnt and demonstrated that snow build up infront of the wheels was better than ABS...is ice its about driving style first, aids and equipment second.

I used to have some great fun in the snow and ice of about 10yrs ago in a F1, playing with TC and ABS.

I would rather have ABS and TC on my truck (which i do) than not Mike
