Sorry to dredge this old topic up.

I'm currently wiring these Waecos up, slightly differently but not far off.

Does anybody know what the capacitor across Ground and Pin 30 on the Relay? (For the LED in the switch?)

Also Waeco wire it up that Pin 30 is the output & Pin 87 is Fuse input (this is backwards but does it actually matter with a 4 pin relay?)

if your asking what the capictor is for in a relay , its to stop voltage spikes happenning - like if you got a ecu controling a relay as the relay switchs off the energy field in the coil in the relay collapses it can send a spike down the wiring and maybe damage something sensitive (maybe a led sorry dont know )

dont think it really matters which way wiring goes on load side , its the same load carried in the same bit of relay , but for the future if you have a problem and want to test the wiring etc it will get confusing as its the other way round if you wire it wrong etc

wiring on switching side needs to be round right way if you need to make use of the capictor

Reckon it must be the LED in the switch, elements in a Heated Seat wouldn't care about a spike.

Just wanted a 2nd opinion as I'm never confident.

I'll also swap the pins for sanity, like stuff to be 'normal'

Elements couldn't send a reverse spike could they?

They are just a big resistor? They wouldn't 'Discharge' would they?

no , relay coil your talking small electomagnetic field

heating element is really just a resistive wire thats made to heat up and its not wound in a coil

guess really its just like a bulb element but doesnt glow (hopefully Rolling with laughter )

Hi,

Does anybody know where to source these Puma switches? Apart from ridiculously priced heater switches north of 40 £?
I have two dead switches on my county edition Puma, left and right of the AC switch and would like to replace them with my own installation, e.g. for work lights.
There has to be a way to get those OEM Defender switches, no? Or do I need to destroy the optics with Carlingtons?

Thanks!

Paul, wow, thank you so much for the quick reply. Had read some forum entries so far and searched the dealers but so far only stumbled upon the 50 £ light switches. Are they 10x the price of the ones you mentioned because they are directly switched, without relay? Maybe.

Will thus order the YUF500150LNF plus a relay, then scratch off the 'hot seat' and print an icon on some adhesive foil, then transfer onto switch. Not 100 % original look but close I hope.

Also appreciate your wiring diagrams, of which I have seen a number on this forum. Very helpful.

Best,

Hi Paul,

would you know where i could get male MQS connectors to suit the vehicle loom to plug into the seats? RS and VWP dont seem to help (me!?) much on that front, google not great either but its probably the driver.
