This type? :
Click image to enlarge They are bolted to the sill (4 bolts I think), and two brackets on to the main chassis rails (bolted into captive rivnuts). I would remove the bolts from the chassis end first (because gravity will hold them in place anyway), and then wedge the step up, and remove the bolts under the cill. No need to remove the fastening between the bracket and the step itself... They're fairly heavy (maybe 15-20kg each), but not heavy enough to need a jack. I wedged mine up with plastic boxes and bits of timber when installing them.. So long as the bolts aren't rusted, it's a quick job to remove. As mine,s a County, they didn't come as standard (as they do on an XS) so I bought them off a Forum Member (thanks AndrewS) and fitted them with new stainless fastenings (I needed them for my Mrs to get in and out - she's only 5' 2"). Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Yes - exactly the same! Thanks for the info.
Same here - Mrs. Eutek is only 5' tall, as is mum-in-law. If I didn't have these side steps we'd have to carry around a stepladder. |
