My 07 clutch went at 7000 miles and when I gave it back to land rover for the 09 it was going again at 14000 miles. The 09 now has done just over 6000 and I have my finders crossed. Shocked

I am sorry but when I see that some Defenders had 2 or 3 clutches replaced or 2 or 3 gear boxes, I can only think that it is due to:
- extreme bad luck
- poor dealer installation
- use of vehicle outside the parameters of normal use as planned by the factory. One should not take the advertising material claims literally. Yes, the Defender can do all those things, but not necessarily simultaneously or all day long.

I can understand defective material having to be changed once, but more than once?

It's only a matter of time 007. There can't be this many cases of extreme bad luck??

Exactly my point, which means it has to be one of the other 2 reasons (or both). Boldly going nowhere

I think so, plus to know if the vehicle had been tuned? Boldly going nowhere

In my case:
1 Clutch.
75% on paved roads, 20% on gravel road and 5% off road.
Not tuned in any way.

To answer your question about what type of work the Defender has done.

General road work - No towing and no off-road as yet.

Mine Big Cry is used for carrying a pair of mountain bikes only and has been at the dealership for an average of 1 day in every 8 days that I have owned it (and I have owned it for 26 months to date)! onwards and upwards

mine has had a new clutch but not through me wanting it just a recall as i was told by the dealer i use mine for off roading and my daily drive but it is also tuned with HD shafts and cvs arb locker in the rear and iv just blown the front diff ?

ok there are some clonks when i change gear but what do i do take it back and moan

its a defender basically a tractor pretty much the same design for 40-50 years adn surtainly the same for 26-27 so what do you really exspect

just wait till they release the new defender what will people think then because i put money that it wont do what the current one can
