Yup, there's lots of small electrical things I'll be doing on it in a couple of weekends time. I'll post all that stuff when it's done!
In addition, I've acquired (from assisting Nene over the show) a proper Hannibal 110 aluminium roof rack, for a very good price...minus the rails, which I'll hopefully soon get. 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top |

Hey there Interlet! I am in the same boat as you, LRO is full of people with generally non-defenders asking boring questions, getting sarky responses!
Much more interesting / ingenuity here I've found ![]() Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

And I've always liked your 110 interlet, proper tough piece of kit without poncy extras (like mine! - they are fun though!) Cheers, David

Sorry to fill the thread with my rambling, but how did the snow get IN the cab? Haha Cheers, David

Yup, it's been a blast so far, and hopefully it will continue!
By the way, anyone wondering YES, that Double Cab now belongs to Appalousadude !!!!! Cheers David. The snow is a long story but I'll simplify it. I was going to make my battery box bigger to fit 2 batteries I had a normal car at the time, so the 110 was off the road while I did it. It failed, (or rather, I failed) and it didn't work and I was left with a huge hole where I'd ripped the old box out, but had no complete new one to put in. So for months over winter, it sat on the drive. The interior snow is a result of me scraping the ice off the inside of the window one morning. All back together now! You are right about no poncy extras....mostly. Only useful extras. It's very noisy, as I took the sagging soundproofing off the bonnet. But I have what I consider some nice little extras, still incomplete. The auto dimming compass mirror, out of a Discovery 2. For anyone wondering, that was MY idea, and Pj, my good mate copied me!!!!!!!! I actually have a new digital DAB head unit, which has Bluetooth, and external speaker. The DAB part isn't working yet, I'm planning on putting the aerial for it on a lightbar that currently needs repainting. I have several extra gauges, the usual turbo boost, oil pressure and voltage. Some I need to rewire because I tapped into the old head unit loom which is now different. My main extra gauge is an EGT, probed into the EGR blanking plate. I got this from AEM, an American company, and not some cheapo ebay pyro, which I wouldn't trust. I'll eventually run a twin alternator setup, but that's incomplete. I did have 2nd alternator already fitted and ready to be wired up on a Gwyn Lewis mount, but I had to take it off cause the bearing was whining like stink. So new alternator is now needed for 2nd one. I had 9 12v sockets around the vehicle, which has now become 8. 3 at the front, and 5 at the back. The one less socket has become a twin USB socket at the front, on my MUD Tunnel Tray. My radio also has a USB port at the front, making it 3 USBs. I use USB charging almost entirely now. I did have an auxiliary heater mounted from the roof behind the front seats, but that's now gone, cause it sucked. For all my extra electrical items, I installed that fuse box behind the bulkhead which was pictured. I have a CB radio as well, although I don't seem to use it much...like most people! I removed Cobra heated Racing seats from it when I bought it, as I found them more uncomfortable than original. I bought some worn out Defender seats, and retrimmed them with Exmoor's Outlast Trim. And they are brilliant. No sweat, and dirt rubs off it so easily! I've also got some 6x9s which I'll put in in a couple of weekends' time, as well as some speakers in the Defender rear speaker trims. I got rid of the full wrap around bullbar because despite constantly repainting it, all it wanted to do was rust. I've got a standard Air Con bull bar to be powdercoated at the same time as the light bar. I'm going to splash out big time for front two spotlights, getting the best I can afford, and I'll be throwing in a couple of Brendan's smart looking small round lights for the light bar. Interlet nice looking 110.
I have Hannibal rails sat on my garage going nothing if your interested? Most, if not all the nuts and bolts etc are there. The rear rail has a very slight dent/bend to it from not guesstimating quite right in a car park, but it's hardly noticeable. I'm not sure what they're worth (ideas anyone?). They're located in Didcot, south of Oxford. Ill see if I can get a photo up... Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful! |

Only one I've got on the phone sorry. I'll get the damaged bar out and sort a photo tomorrow if you like? I'll have a little look around and see what they're worth and well sort something out if you like.

Excellent, that would be appreciated. It's possible that I might be able to acquire some at no cost, if my mate can find some lying in their yard somewhere, but I've been told to be prepared to have to buy some, so this could be a good lead. If you can post the photo of the slightly bent one, whenever you've got it, and I'll take a look tomorrow, that would be appreciated. 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I got your PM photos should be below
I've pointed to the bend with my toe, and got a close up of the mark. The side rails are fine it's just the rear (or front) bar that's bent. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful! |

Thanks for the help Thor, and for putting the pictures up, I appreciate it. I hate to say though, that my original description is faulty, despite constantly calling what I'm after rails, I actually mean the legs for it! The reason I've been calling them rails the whole time, was simply down to the guys I bought the rack off constantly referring to it as having "missing rails".
Thanks anyway! ![]() |
