Now,

When I went to the aid of a mate whos puma had died at the side of the road it was because I had fitted a brit part fuel filter.

That sucked air cause it did not seat like proper ones should

I ended up putting his old filter back on. Now how the hell do I bleed this thing at the side of the road Shocked

I ended up using my oil/fuild extractor. I pulled the pipe off the fuel rail & suffed the extractor on there with the aid of a rubber glove to form an air tight seal

Pulled through a few litres & reconected to the fuel rail. Cranked over a few times & away it went Surprised

Maybe you should do the same sort of thing???

Hope this helps Chris

Yeah I think that might be the next step

I fitted a outboard motor type primer bulb inline which I was trying to use to prime the system.

Will get a gen LR filter, check all pipe work for blockages, fill with fuel and try again with the connector off.

Strange because my replacement filters were expensive MANN filters parts! Cheers, David

well ive had very little luck so far.

Changed fuel filters twice (most recently to gen LR part just in case), had lots of injector cleaner in, emptied and refilled tank, bled(isn?) system to no avail. even had filter HOUSING changed in case of blockage etc.

this was the end result of todays work:

Update on this saga.

Tank, lift pump, fuel line, filter housing, filter all either cleaned, replaced or refurbished at Guy Salmon's expense (hooray!)

Bad news: no change. Almost certainly either high pressure pump which should go through warranty, but can't get part until next Friday.

Scuppers my NWLRC weekend, but looking into hiring a vehicle for that! (Maybe a discovery 4 lol!)

Frustrating...

I didn't even know the puma had a lift pump! Cheers, David

Sorry i don't know the engine at all, but if it were an old school diesel i'd be looking for the injector pump pre filter gauze, normally on the injector pump inlet, these used to be incredibly fine and would block if water got that far.

As i said i don't know the engine it might not have one Question A man with no boat is a prisoner
