A failed head gasket would seem to be the obvious conclusion. Darren

Yeah, that's what I was hoping it wasn't.
The smoke clears fairly soon and it only does it the first time I start it, and not every day. Going to have to go down and have words with the garage I think, hopefully they get it looked at without any fuss. |

Did you get some warranty with it, I feel the garage must have known it had a dodgy head gasket

Yeah I reckon they must know something was up.
Going to take it down tomorrow I think, plus I'm from Guernsey which is very, very small and where word gets around fast, so hopefully they are more than willing to help! Just a little disappointing that I'm having problems with the new (all be it quite expensive) toy already! |

Ah well that's no good!
I live about a minute down the road from the garage so not quite as bad a situation! Thanks! |

Turned out to that head gasket had gone and there was a cracked/warped cylinder head too, not great!
The garage didn't want to fork out that sort of money so have now (kindly, i think) reversed the deal. In a week I have gone from being the proud new owner of a 'nice' td5 90 to driving about in my old golf. Probably for the best though! So my question is now more, where would you guys recommend looking for a decent second hand 90? |

Really really sorry to read this. But not a terrible result I hope.
Best place is the for sale adds on here, or nene overland. Yes they charge but they will look after you should it go wrong. Andy |
