Difference between Roo Lights and Light Force Lights
Im wondering the difference (other than the price)

I have roo lights fitted and had a set of lightforce for something else - same size and they looked almost identical...are they, whats the difference - it looked like the covers would fit on roo's from the lightforce as well Mike

Mike,
I've not had roo lites so this isn't much help other than that should some one come along and say there is no difference GET THEM !
Lightforce are absolutely astounding !
My mate has the OEM spots fitted now by the dealer PIAA I believe ?
In comparison they look like candles in jam jars, the lightforce beam projects as far as the eye can see in normal road cnditions, off road they can be spun on a bezel to project a wide flood in front of the vehicle and the other can be angled out to illuminate the way ahead.
I plumped for lghtforce purely because I'd always wanted a pair in much the same way I'd always wanted a soft rubber A bar, so I thought if I'm getting one I,m not scimping on the other,
sorry I can't be much more help than that. DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

My point really is my roo lights seem exactly the same in design and light output as the lightforce...just less money Mike

Lightforce for me!
Get your missus/Santa/mistress/chick to buy them for you as a present then the cost is immaterial. Not much help just after Xmas I know.
I opted for a set of Lightforce XGTs simply because a mate of mine had an older set on his 300TDI they were the biz! Do not know of anyone with Roos so stuck with what I knew to be good!
Lightforce do have an excellent reputation but over a grand for HIDs is excessive hence the choice of XGTs at a little over £300.
I'm with Chalky on this one, coupled with a genuine soft A Bar they compliment each other in both looks and style! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Time will tell, if you're stating there appears to be no difference then you got yourself a 'billy bargain' then! I note you've got an XS and the lights are fitted. Mine aren't yet! But to accommodate them I had to make up some brackets to bring 'em forward to fit due to aircon! Did you have to do the same with the Roo ones? See below.

lightforce are slightly different diameter i.e Roo180s= LF170s, Roo220s= Lf240s...the only ones that sre the same size are the 140s Thumbs Up

The Roos have a slightly deeper profile as well Thumbs Up You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

Sorry Mike,

I read the wording as you had Roo Lites and wanted to know the difference between them and lightforce !

I didnt know you had lightforce as well ?

As per the definitive in whats different, if you dont know and have both pairs i,m Censored !

I,ll liken it to a pair of walking boots ! i have several pairs and never buy boots without a vibram sole, the only reason for this is product reliability, i know there are lots of reputable manufacturers of boots that dont use vibram soles, the fact that the supplying branded manufacturer has spent the extra employing vibrams excellent pedigree makes me think that the eyelets wont fall out and the leather will last that little bit longer and the shank wont rust and start to squeek every time put my foot down after only a few outings.

It may also be badge snobbery ? but i feel confident that i,ve made the right decision. And as already said above, only time will tell.

I have heard no bad reports about roolites. Only that they are a rip off design stolen from liteforce.

If you have badge envy you could purchase a set of filters from said manufacturer of more expensive unit but deep down you will always know you chose second best Thumbs Up DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

Personally i think the roo lights are great - i only was fitting them to a friends car.

I wouldnt pay the extra as i couldnt see any difference - i expected someone to come back with gortex this or reflector that - but it would really seem no difference

So the £'s i saved almost a year ago have to bee the way forward. Maybe his were 180's and mine are 170's Mike

Disco, yep, still going ! picking it up in the new year Thumbs Up

Mike, i dont know whether the roo lites have the same reflectors or conicle shaped lenses as the liteforce lights and i,m not sure if the shroud around the bulb housings are gore tex ? i do remember reading up on this some time ago and found comparisons between the two, i believe we spoke about this some 12 months ago ? the basis of my findings swayed me towards my choice, the others were WARN, O.E. Spec lamps, ROO-LIGHTS & lightforce,

There must be some figures some where involving light metres ? the tests i saw involved a vehicle parked against a barn and shining up a track, basic tests but the conclusion for me was Lightforce. DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

I'm going to be fitting some 140s to the roofrack on my D3 in the New Year. Have yet to persuade Mrs Do$h of the merits of a pair of 170s on the Defender Rolling Eyes

Thanks Fekete,

Have used the brackets I made and covered them in neoprene used to protect aircraft aerials against corrosion to make them less obtrusive. There was still a little 'flex' in the lights when mounted which I have removed by fitting some high density foam between the lights and the grill. Shall top it off with the genuine SVX Steering Guard that I purchased off of Chalky in the New Year.
Next outlay will be a good dose of waxoyl from Rustmaster I think. Thereafter a set of wheels and boots! As a footnote having the rear windows tinted to 95% earlier in the year was also a good outlay as I had two decent tops faded by sunlight in but a few days. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
