Top two bars on mine weren't working either, bug bear was that because I've had mine tinted Land Rover were reluctant to swap it out under warranty. Had they agreed I would stll have had to pay to get it retinted. Couldn't be bothered to argue the to55 on this one! Halfords do a silver-based contact paint 'Granville' it's called comes in a tiny bottle with a masking template and a small sponge. £12 though! Sorted mine out and I affixed some transluscent 'sticky fixers' to the stoplight rubber to move it away from the heater element so it shouldn't reoccur.

Good fix!
How did you do this through the tint? Did you just cut through the film? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

The rear stoplight is not tinted! The tint is cut not to include the stoplight area! The chaffing of the element occurs under the stoplight cover rubber gasket!

Seems from all the comments in this thread one important point is missing. Land Rover have finally switched already some time ago to a new version rear window with the top heater elements not running straight anymore where they invariably will be broken by the 3rd stoplight rubbing on the heater elements, but now the top heating elements on this new window version are routed nicely around/under the stop light.
Last weekend it was kinda humid and fresh here and my rear window fogged up. When switching on the rear window heating, yes of course, the top three elements did not work. In the 4 years that I have the SVX, the rear window was already replaced twice under guarantee, each time with the old heating elements model, so now same problem for the 3rd time again. I bought the extended warranty from LR, and my dealer without questions will replace the rear window for the third time, now under the extended warranty, and they will install the new model rear window which should solve the problem once and forever. Just want to point out to all who still have the old rear window model, to check if their top three heating elements still work, and if not, and if you can have it replaced under guarantee, tell the dealer of this new model. Mine had no idea, I had to show them the new window model on a new Defender in their showroom, but they agreed to put this new model without a problem. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
